Martin Luther King Jr., illustrated for children

Meet young M.L. - that's what everyone called Martin Luther King Jr. when he was a little boy! M.L. grew up in a neighborhood called Sweet Auburn in Atlanta, Georgia. His daddy was a preacher at Ebenezer Baptist Church, and his mama was a teacher. M.L. lived in a big house with his brother and sister, and they had lots of fun playing together! M.L. LOVED to read and learn new things. By the time he was 5 years old, he could memorize Bible verses and recite them perfectly! His parents taught him that every person is special and deserves to be treated with kindness and respect, no matter what they look like. Sweet Auburn was a wonderful place where Black families owned businesses, went to church together, and took care of each other. M.L. learned that when people work together and support each other, amazing things can happen! 🏘️✨
